Inner Strength
My intention for the month of April has been connecting to your inner strength. This month’s sequence brings pulses, balancing holds, and stability requiring postures. I want to remind my students of the inner strength that lies in each of them — not only in their body but in their mind.
My inspiration for this intention came from the little voice in my head that says “just drop” or “you can quit now” when a posture or sequence becomes difficult. I’m not saying to ignore that voice, but I am saying to hear it, recognize it, and move past it by connecting with that inner strength you know is there.
Most of the time in yoga, your body can continue on but your mind stops you as soon as things become too uncomfortable. Without pushing yourself to injury or illness (please drink water or get air if you feel you need it!), I want my students to quiet that voice telling you that you can’t and to continue on. You may be surprised at how much you’re actually capable of.
